Heritage & Vision

Our Story

KALA House was born from a simple belief: that moments around a table are precious, and that great food and coffee can truly make time taste better.

We started with an oven and an idea

Two close friends, one clay wood-fired oven, and a single timber table for twelve. Guests lingered far past closing hours to share conversations and warmth—so we built KALA House around that exact feeling.

We source directly from regional growers within a few hours of Yogyakarta, roast coffee in modest batches, and craft weekly seasonal menus tuned to the rhythm of harvest.

The Philosophy

How We Craft Each Moment

Cook Slowly

Our signature rendang takes eight uninterrupted hours. We never rush the process; patience deepens every note.

Buy Close

We partner directly with sustainable Javanese farmsteads and highland micro-mills to keep ingredients exceptionally fresh.

Host Generously

No timers on tables, no hurry to turn over seats. We invite you to linger, read, converse, and unwind.
